IHM Srs Invitation

To celebrate 25 years of their Missionary presence in the UK, the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, are hosting a Mass at Sacred Heart (Hanley, Stoke on Trent, ST1 3DB) on Saturday 2nd July 2022 at 10.00 am. Leading the celebrations, the Chief Celebrant will be His Grace, Bernard Longley, Archbishop of Birmingham. In addition to the IHM Sisters, priests from the UK and beyond are expected to attend, along with Sisters from other religious communities, family and friends will come together in support and prayer. The Sisters also cordially invite you to share with them this special day.

IHM Srs 3

Based across Africa, Europe and America, the IHM Sisters are dedicated to "building authentic community life through compassionate and humble service to our neighbour in imitation of Mary, our Mother." Across their 19 Convents in Europe, the Sisters realise this vision through their work in clinics, nursing homes, provision of pastoral care to refugees and immigrants, as well as food to the homeless. At Maryvale Institute, we were blessed by the presence of two IHM Sisters, who supported the Further Education programmes delivered both within the Archdiocese of Birmingham and across the world; Srs Domninic Marie Anoshiri and Sr Maureen Flicitas Obiorah. In recent years, the Institute formed a partnership with the Order, to enable the Sisters to deliver catechetical training at the Mater Christi Human Development and Religious Formation Centre in Nigeria. Now that the Srs are celebrating their 25th year fulfilling their mission in the UK, we send our heartfelt congratulations to the Srs on their Silver Jubilee and pray that their valuable work will continue for many years to come.

IHM Sisters 2

The Mass at Sacred Heart (Hanley) promises to be a joyful occasion, filled with the music, dancing and colour for which the Sisters were well known and loved at Maryvale Institute. All at Maryvale wish the IHM Sisters a blessed day and thank them for their services to the college over the years.
