Maryvale is delighted to invite you to the fifth annual Redford Memorial Lecture, which will take place in Maryvale chapel on Wednesday 6th November at 7.30pm. The lecture is a tribute to the memory of Canon John Redford who died in 2013. Father John taught here for over 20 years, serving at various times as Bachelor of Divinity (B. Divinity) and Masters (MA) Director, encouraging and supporting countless students on the Institute's undergraduate and postgraduate theology programmes, which he played a key role in developing.

This year, we're pleased that Rev Dr Andrew Pinsent has agreed to speak on 'Science and Grace: Escaping the Snow Queen's Palace'. In addition to lecturing on Maryvale's MA in Catholic Applied Theology programme, Father Andrew is a Research Fellow of Harris Manchester College, Oxford University, Research Director of the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion, and a member of the Theology and Religion Faculty, where he supervises dissertations on theological issues in relation to contemporary science. He was formerly a high energy physicist on the DELPHI experiment at CERN, has degrees in philosophy and theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University and a second doctorate, in philosophy, from St Louis University. He is widely published and is a regular contributor to public debate in the media, including for the BBC and EWTN, and is also the co-author, with Father Marcus Holden, of several catechetical projects published by the Catholic Truth Society, such as the Evangelium and Why? courses.
