Congratulations Dr Schnitker

New Director of Philosophy Programme Appointed

Dr Harry Schnitker in Maryvale Chapel

We would like to announce the appointment of Dr Harry Schnitker as Programme Director for the BA (Hons) in Philosophy and the Catholic Tradition programme (validated by The Open University) from 1 April 2021, taking over from Dr Chris Wojtulewicz. We look forward to welcoming Harry as a member of the team. Dr Wojtulewicz will continue his association with the Philosophy programme and the Institute in an academic associate staff member role, as a lecturer and as a consultant.

Dr Harry Schnitker

Far from being new to Maryvale, Dr Schnitker has been closely associated with Maryvale for many years across a number of our programmes, including the B.Divinity, MA in Catholic Applied Theology and PhD in Catholic Studies. Most of his research is multi-disciplinary, including history, history of art, literature, theology and anthropology. He is particularly interested in structures, cultural transmission and encounters and in the narratives that flow from these. He is an accomplished author, having just completed a book on the role of the Catholic Duchesses of Perth in the Jacobite period and is currently working on the life of St Elizabeth Hesselblad, who re-invigorated the Bridgettine Order.

Wishing all the best to Harry Schnitker as new programme director.
