Partnership With The Open University Renewed
Maryvale is delighted to announce that following a review of the Master of Arts programme in Catholic Applied Theology earlier this year The Open University has revalidated the degree for a further five years (until January 2024). The panel was very positive about all aspects of the programme, commending it for being ‘broad and balanced’, and reflective of the Institute’s mission for formation and individual development. In particular, they noted the value of the residential weekends for the students’ learning and development, and the Institute’s ‘commitment to accessibility and student support’, making only minor suggestions concerning how current provision on the programme might be enhanced.

Dr Stephen Yates, the Programme Director, thanked the OU panel for their rigorous yet encouraging engagement with the programme, and for the interesting and fruitful exchanges that characterized the whole process. ‘It is pleasing to receive such positive feedback after this thorough critical evaluation, and it gives us even greater confidence in our efforts to maintain and develop this successful programme.’
The MA programme, which enrols each January, is a part-time, distance-learning degree with pathways in Religious Education and Catechesis, Apologetics, Marriage and Family, Spirituality, and Faith and Culture.
