Easter Message 2026
04 Apr 2026
A cross on a mountain at sunrise

Christ is Risen! He is Truly Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia!

The shout of joy that is the Resurrection of the Lord, the recognition that everything has changed for those who believe, those who have walked the road to Calvary with Him, who stood beneath His Cross, waited at His tomb, that shout of joy is ours. The Cross, the key of the door of heaven, has unlocked the gate to the narrow way which we can now walk. A 'greater gift than Grace' has Risen! The 'refined flesh and blood', Risen now on the Pascal altars in our churches, refines us, too, makes us all sons and daughters of God. The ineffable mystery that is Easter, which we so eagerly anticipated in Lent, into which we plunged in the Holy Week, is now our mystery, has swept us up within it: as St Augustine wrote, "Resurrectio Domini spes nostra" (sermon 261.1).

With St John Henry Newman we exclaim:

"Praise to the Holiest in the height, and in the depth be praise; in all His words most wonderful, most sure in all His ways!!"

It is my fervent prayer that all Maryvale's students, staff, external staff and alumni are plunged into the joy of Easter and may you all enjoy the blessings and the peace of the Risen Christ, Alleluia, Alleluia.

Deacon Harry
