Research in the Catholic tradition
The St John Henry Newman Research Centre sits within Maryvale Institute, at Maryvale House in Birmingham, Newman's first home after he became a Catholic. Its work is to explore and explain Catholicism and the Catholic cultural tradition, and to bring that scholarship to a wider audience. It does this through conferences, publications, a peer-reviewed periodical, podcasts and online seminars, building a platform for academic work of the highest quality.

A community of scholars
The Centre draws on a large group of committed scholars, many of whom supervise in the PhD programme and teach Maryvale's Masters and undergraduate students. They come from different backgrounds, countries and cultures, and together they make the Centre a place for high quality research and for meeting and community. It is led by its Director, Deacon Dr Harry Schnitker, with online research seminars run alongside Maryvale@St Mary's.
