Who is the programme aimed at?

The Catechism is offered to all who wish to understand better the inexhaustible riches of salvation. It is a treasury of wisdom and spirituality, as well as providing the reliable reference point for understanding and appreciating the Catholic faith.

What are the entry requirements?

Open access.

How long is the programme?

This is a two-year, part-time, distance-learning course.

When is the next enrolment?

The course recommences each autumn.

Programme information (content & structure)

This two-year course gives a thorough introduction to the teaching of the Catechism. The course can be studied at home on one's own, or as part of a parish group. Six course modules are studied, three per year, presenting a complete commentary on the teaching contained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

Year 1
  • Faith and Revelation; the Creed: God the Father.
  • The Creed: God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
  • Liturgy and Sacraments.
  • Year 2
  • Introduction to Morality.
  • The Ten Commandments.
  • Prayer.


A written assignment is presented at the end of each module and the Certificate is awarded after the successful completion of all six modules.
