This programme is particularly suitable for those in the teaching professions: existing teachers of RE value the opportunity it provides for improving their theological and professional expertise, while qualified teachers in other disciplines are able to use it to specialise in R.E. in Catholic schools. The degree is also for catechists, parents, clergy and religious.

Aims of the Programme

This pathway aims to deepen the students’ knowledge and understanding of the main areas of Catholic theology and the principles of Catholic education and catechesis, enabling them to reflect critically and creatively on issues pertinent to intellectual engagement with the Catholic worldview and with the transmission of the faith.

  • God and Salvation in Jesus Christ
  • Philosophical and Theological Anthropology OR Human Dignity: Foundation of Western Culture and Civilisation

  • Liturgy and Sacraments OR Prayer and the Spiritual Life
  • Moral Formation
  • Research Methods
