Rev Dr Cullinan's Conference Paper

The Ethical Character of the Mysteries:

Observations from a Moral Theologian

Delvered by Rev Dr Michael Cullinan

at Sacra Liturgia UK 2016

Rev Dr Cullinan

During July 2016, Rev Dr Michael Cullinan, Maryvale's Director of the Ecclesiastical Bachelor of Divinity programme, attended the Sacra Liturgia UK 2016 Conference in London. On Day 4, Rev Dr Cullinan delivered a paper on The Ethical Character of the Mysteries: Observations from a Moral Theologian, which was well-received by those who attended. In his review, Matthew Hazell (New Liturgical Movement, 2016) outlined that Rev Dr Cullinan's "central thesis was that what people see and hear in our churches through the liturgy has grave moral importance for their lives. However, instead of applying moral principles to the liturgy, as often done in times gone by, he asked how can we derive moral principles from the liturgy?"
