Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies.
The Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies is a 2 year part-time programme for trainee and qualified teachers aims to provide a basic qualification in Catholic Religious Education. It is in accordance with the requirements laid down by the Board of Studies of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, and the Certificate is awarded with the authority of the Archbishop of Birmingham.
The course consists of 8 units (4 per year). Since each unit must comprise at least 10 hours contact time, teachers and students are required to attend one non-residential weekend (Sat/Sun) for each unit i.e. 4 weekends per year, at Maryvale. These weekends normally take place in September, November, February and June each year.
