Certificate and Diploma in New Testament Studies.
(Previously 'Listening to the Word')
Commences in the Autumn Term.
Dates for 2010 residential weekends: 17-18 April and 10-11 July.
The Certificate in New Testament Studies is a two year part-time, distance learning course. Each module focuses upon one or more of the books of the New Testament. The Diploma in New Testament Studies is a further,one-year, part-time, collaborative learning course building upon the Certificate work and completing the study of the New Testament.
The Course studies the scriptures in the light of the Church's teaching expressed in Dei Verbum and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. As well as introducing the usual scholarly approaches to the New Testament texts the course locates texts within the unity of the whole of scripture and examines the place of the New Testament texts within the Tradition of the Church.
The Certificate and Diploma courses can be studied at home on one's own, or as part of a local group. Three residential weekends each year support those undertaking the course.
